A Born Leader
Denise Keehan-Smith has deep roots within the Woodside community and is proud to be a third generation resident. She spent over thirty years working at a travel technology company while also furthering her education. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from City College, CUNY and earned her Executive Master's Degree in the Management of Technology from NYU Tandon School of Engineering, both in a traditional classroom setting.
Denise was appointed to Community Board 2, Queens in April, 2012. She was elected to Board Secretary in 2014 and became the Transportation Committee Chairwoman in 2015. One year later in June, 2016 she was elected to Chairwoman of Community Board 2 where she served with distinction until June, 2020. While serving in the capacity of Chairwoman, Denise also served on the Amazon Community Advisory Council as Co-Chair of the GPP Subcommittee, Sunnyside Yards Steering Committee Member, spearheaded a team of LIC Stakeholders to develop a comprehensive waterfront plan, served on the Kosciuszko Bridge Stakeholders Committee, the LaGuardia Airport Roundtable Committee, QNS Rail Board Secretary, Northstar Community Advisory Board Committee, Blissville, Neighborhood Advisory Board, District 2 as well as serving as President of Big Six Towers, Woodside.
